One of the first events of the autumn season was the launch of an exciting venue hire collaboration between Somerset House and new UVL member The Courtauld Gallery.
Working with both venues and co-collaborators, Wise Productions and Hayford & Rhodes, the BWoM team helped to craft an evening that showed the best of both venues and demonstrated how an event using both venues delivers a unique and seamless guest experience.
Pre-dinner drinks were enjoyed at The Courtauld, amidst the world-renowned artworks of the Third Floor Galleries, with two paintings, Manet’s A Bar at the Folies-Bergère and Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear, providing the inspiration for creative canape presentation trays. Champagne, lavender lemonade, cheese souffles and green olive palmiers were perfect partners for a private wander amongst the impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces. An illuminating talk from one of the Gallery’s experts was a highlight of this first part of the evening and guests made the short walk across the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court inspired and excited by what they had experienced.
The Portico Rooms at Somerset House contrast beautifully with The Courtauld and we made the most of its elegant proportions, creating a cosy yet chic dining room in which guests enjoyed a menu inspired by modern French cuisine. An amuse bouche of artichokes a la Grecque was followed by roasted fillet of turbot and, to finish, the lightest lemon madeleine and Swiss meringue, adorned with silver leaf and paired with a classic French 75 cocktail.
The ease of holding an event across these two neighbour venues was fully demonstrated at this highly successful showcase event that combined elegance and creativity to full force.
